Let's Go 10th Grade!
My sophomore year was fantastic. I had the opportunity to take my first AP level class, and although I believe I am a good student, this class challenged me. In addition to a lot of homework, working with the extra materials on Khan Academy, I was able to strengthen my study skills. Additionally, I doubled up on Math this year, taking both Geometry and Algebra 2, and was accepted into Chesapeake Community College as a Dual Enrollment student!

Luv It All!
My Big Comeback: After having to forfeit in Regional Championships during my Freshmen year, I was determined to make my sophomore experience as solid as possible. It felt great to take home the Regional Champion title and it was an honor to represent my school at the Maryland State Championships. Taking third place wasn’t just good for my team and myself but also for our school community. My high school had not had a girls singles player advance past the quarterfinal round in more than five years.

My serve. I worked hard to improve my technique and now it is faster, deeper, and more efficient.
Best Grit and Determination Moment
I was down 0-3 to a senior in one of the earlier matches of the season and I fought back to win 8-4.

Art
This year, I got to take Drawing with Mr. Goodger, who I believe is a great teacher. As a freshman, I was amazed by the work of his students that was displayed in the school. I learned so much including how to do valuing with different materials; how to draw the human body; how to draw certain textures on different objects; and one perspective and two perspective artwork. Not only did I receive more recognition and compliments on my art this year, but I have been encouraged by several art teachers to apply for the National Art Honor Society, which I am considering doing.
I also continued my participation in the Art Club after school and contributed to events like Haunted Hallways and Black History Month.
With Dr. Mary Morton, head of French paintings for The National Gallery of Art and the judge for the Next Generation 12-18 competition at Plein Air Easton this year. My painting “Tidewater Inn” won first place.
This was my first time working with white charcoal. Our teacher had us research grayscale images and choose one to draw. I had to study the image and then replicate it. I am very proud of it. It is one of my best pieces so far.

Dance
I broadened my dance horizons by taking Jazz and Pre-Pointe this year. Pre-Pointe is tough on the toes, but Jazz is energetic and fun!
